A Modern Approach
to Patient Comfort
Many patients delay treatment because they’re worried about injections, pain or previous experiences.
At ITTS Clinic, we offer a range of comfort options tailored to your individual needs, whether you’re attending for conservative treatment or a surgical procedure.
Feeling nervous? Let us know when you book so we can plan your appointment with your comfort in mind.
What is Needle-Free Technology?
At ITTS Clinic, we use the Comfort In needle free system as an option for patients who are particularly worried about needles.
The device uses pressure to deliver local anaesthetic through the skin without a traditional needle for the initial stage of anaesthesia.
It can be particularly helpful for:
Needle phobic
Anxious Adults
Children and Teenagers
Patients who have had a difficult experience with injections in the past
Needle phobia? Please tell us.
You’re certainly not the only one. Knowing beforehand allows us to plan your appointment and give you the extra support you may need.
Sometimes, More Time
Makes All The Difference
Not all patients need medication or additional medical support. Sometimes the most helpful comfort options is simply having more time and not feeling rushed.
If you or your child are nervous about treatment, please let us know when booking. Where appropriate, we can allocate a longer appointment to allow extra time to:
Explain what is happening before we begin
Answer your questions
Take Breaks if needed
Introduce treatment gradually
Discuss additional comfort options if required
Extra time can be arranged for conservative treatment as well as ingrown toenail surgery.
You do not need to be having surgery to ask us for extra support.
Need Some Extra Help to Relax?
For patients who need additional support, we can discuss further comfort options where clinically appropriate.
Happy Gas (Nitrous Oxide + oxygen)
Happy gas can help patients feel calmer and more relaxed while remaining awake and able to communicate throughout treatment.
It isn’t only used for surgery. Happy gas may also be available during conservative ingrown toenail treatment when additional comfort is required.
GP assessment + nursing supervision required.
Penthrox (The Green Whistle)
Penthrox, commonly known as the green whistle, is an inhaled medicine that may provide additional pain relief and support during treatment for suitable patients.
Penthrox requires appropriate clinical assessment and is provided with GP and nursing involvement and supervison.
Suitability is assessed individually.
Extra Comfort for
Children & Teenagers
We understand that foot treatment can feel overwhelming for children and teenagers, especially if they are worried about needles or have had a difficult medical experience in the past.
Our approach is calm, patient and reassuring. We take time to explain what is happening in an age appropriate way and help your child feel comfortable before treatment begins.
Longer appointments More time without feeling rushed
Happy Gas/ Penthrox Where clinically appropriate
Needle free technology For suitable treatments and patients
Parent involvement Supporting your child throughout their appointment
Please tell us about significant anxiety or needle phobia when booking.
